Bio

Anuvab was based in the US for 12 years where his plays include  1) Chaos Theory (over 150 productions including the only Indian play to be The Finalist at The BBC World Playwriting Competition 2007, Alter Ego Productions, SALAAM Theatre, Producers Club, Here Theatre-Soho, 78 th Street Theatre Lab, American Theatre of Actors, American Place Theatre, Bodhi Art Gallery, Greenwich Street Theatre- all in New York City, ArtWallah Festival- Los Angeles, Georgetown University, STAGE festival Washington DC, Edward Albee Theatre Festival- Alaska, Rasik Arts- Toronto, RAGE PRODUCTIONS- India), 2) Out of Fashion ( performed at Asian-American Writers Workshop, Manhattan Theatre Source- in NYC, Edward Albee Theatre Festival â  Alaska), 3) Life, Love and EBITDA ( Selected for The Lark Theatre-South Asian Diaspora Festival 2003, Epic Theatre   in NYC, Finalist-Playwrights Center/Guthrie Theatre- Minnesota, Artwallah Festival-Los Angeles), 4) FATWA (Only Indian playwright at The New York International Fringe Festival 2004, the play sold out and transferred to Blue Heron Arts Center to packed houses-NYC, then Silk Road Theatre-Chicago), 5)  Paris (A one act play for The Lower East Side Tenement Museum -7.11 Convenience Theatre Festival 2005). Life, Love and EBITDA played at New York’s oldest and most prestigious Public Theatre’s New Work Now! 2005 Festival.   In 2006, The Royal Court London and Rage Productions Mumbai commissioned him for a new play – The President is Coming (later picked up by QTP Productions) which is running across India to packed houses and rave reviews. He won The Lark Theater- Indo American Council  Playwright Fellowship 2007 in NYC for a new commissioned play.

His screenplays include the independent films:  THE PRESIDENT IS COMING SAIFF Film Festival, NYC (Starring Konkona Sen Sharma, produced by RSE Entertainment). Critical and Box Office Success in India.  LOINS OF PUNJAB PRESENTS Major film festivals globally and critically acclaimed/ box office success in India (Dir: Manish Acharya- with Shabana Azmi and Ayesha Dharker), CROSSROADS selected for The Mumbai International Film Festivalâ 07 and The Osian Film Festival 2007 (Dir: Rajyashree Ojha- with Victor Banerjee, Soha Ali Khan, Zeenat Aman).
